Super bowling
for life
While
most of the world was watching the Super Bowl pre-game
shows on Feb. 6, the Rutherford County Chapter of
Tennessee Right to Life was sponsoring a Bowling for
Life afternoon at the Smyrna Bowling Center. Thirty four
adults, teens and tinies from St. Luke Catholic Church
in Smyrna, St. Rose of Lima Parish in Murfreesboro, and
members of Middle Tennessee State University’s Raiders
for Life helped raise money to provide educational
materials used by the County Chapter to explain and
promote the sanctity of all human life. Johnathan
Warner, 5, of Murfreesboro, pictured right, was the
youngest bowler and the top money raiser bringing in
over $300. He attends the pre-kindergarten class at
Overbrook School in Nashville. The Chapter will also be
sponsoring a Pro-Life Oratory Contest that is open to
all Rutherford County high school students, on Tuesday,
March 15. The top three winners in the local contest
will win monetary prizes, and the first place winner
will advance to the State Oratory Contest held at
Aquinas College. For information about the Chapter and
the Oratory Contest visit
www.tnrtl.org, click on Chapter Events and look for
Rutherford County, and the Oratory Contest box for
details.
Ladies of Charity sponsor Day of
Reflection
Father Mark Beckman,
pastor of St. Matthew Church in Franklin, led the
Ladies of Charity annual Day of Reflection on Feb.
17. Eighty-five members of the Ladies of Charity
attended the retreat that began with Mass and
continued with the program, whose theme was “Jesus
the Person: Who do you say I am?” Pictured with
Father Mark are Ladies of Charity members Pat Kelly,
