Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving
The Diocese of Nashville has an opening for the newly
created position of
Director of Major
Gifts & Planned Giving.
This is a full-time position based at the Catholic
Center located at 2400 21st Ave., S. in
Nashville.
This
position is responsible primarily for directing and
coordinating the planning, development and execution of
major and planned gifts fundraising programs for the
Diocese of Nashville in order to generate and
maximize short and longer-term income and investments
and for ensuring that all such programs are
donor-centric, cost-effective and provide for long-term
growth of the Diocese. The position requires significant
interaction associated with the various Diocesan
parishes and other legal entities. The ideal candidate
will have an impressive track record of collaborating,
driving and delivering financial results in support of
organizational objectives and the ability to work with
and influence potential donors as they discern how to
invest their money for the future. The Director of Major
Gifts & Planned Giving’s primary objective is to create
and execute a strategic plan to substantially increase
the Major Gifts and Planned Giving results throughout
the Diocese. The Director of Major Gifts & Planned
Giving will work closely with and be a reflection upon
the Bishop on the strategy and solicitation of
prospective givers. The Director of Major Gifts &
Planned Giving will be an integral member of the Finance
Team and an active participant in all short and long
range planning discussions.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing/public
relations/business management required; advanced
degree preferred.

Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential
preferred.

Experience using Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge and/or
FIMS Software preferred.

Proven track record of fundraising and financial
development results; energized by “asking” for the
investment.

Appropriate personal demeanor and impeccable
interpersonal skills for interacting with and
cultivating donors or potential donors, volunteers,
vendors, etc.

Must have excellent oral presentation skills.

Understanding of IRS and State regulations regarding
donations and fundraising.

Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office
products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Ability to interpret and analyze financial
information and prepare projections.

Ability to identify and resolve financial issues and
develop a deep understanding of the Diocese’s
operations.

Ability to both identify and resolve big issues and
execute at the detail level.

Ability to partner with, consult, and advise parish
and Diocesan leaders on a range of issues and
opportunities.

Candidate should be widely recognized as a strong
leader by supervisors, peers and subordinates.

Ability to establish and maintain effective
relationships across the Diocese.

The following would be extremely advantageous but
are not required:

Active member of the Catholic faith

Knowledge of church organizational and operational
procedures as well as financial / tax law
regulations and legislation
