The Catholic Foundation of Tennessee, Inc.
The Catholic Foundation of
Tennessee, Inc. is a membership
corporation with an annual Gold
voting membership fee of $1,000
and an Associate membership fee
of $500 which is a non-voting
membership. A Platinum
Membership is granted to donors
of more than $1,500. Annually
the accumulated membership fees
and other gifts are distributed
per the members’ vote in the
form of grants to
under-resourced parishes in
rural areas of the Diocese of
Nashville.
The Catholic Foundation of
Tennessee has since 1979,
distributed almost $1.5 million
to mission and rural parishes,
schools and other organizations
in our diocese for their local
needs. Most often, the
foundation funds land purchases
and building efforts in parishes
that would otherwise be unable
to establish themselves. Recent
funding has included grants for
St. Gregory Parish in Smithville
to build a parish hall, Holy
Family Parish in Lafayette for
land acquisition, and Good
Shepherd Parish in Dover for the
purchase of adjacent property.
One of the highlights of the
foundation membership is the
annual meeting and dinner with
the Bishop of Nashville, Most
Reverend David Choby, D.D.,
J.C.L. Several of the
foundation’s founding members
continue to participate, as do
many other loyal and new
supporters each year. The
meeting is usually held at a new
location in the Nashville area
each year. At the meeting the
members of the foundation vote
on the grant proposals submitted
to them by the Board of Trustees
of the Foundation. This year’s
Annual Meeting and Dinner is to
be held on May 26, 2011 at the
Frist Center for the Visual
Arts.
