Tennessee Register sponsors subscription renewal drive

The response to the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti by Catholic news outlets around the country and the globe, including the Tennessee Register, demonstrated the power of the Catholic press.

Within hours of the latest natural disaster to hit Haiti with a crippling blow, Catholic publications were telling the story – in words and pictures – of the deep suffering of the Haitian people. And the Catholic press was able to show readers the connections between those of us living in the most powerful nation in the world and our brothers and sisters living in one of the poorest through the work of various Catholic agencies and parishes.

But the Catholic press, which celebrated Catholic Press Month throughout February, doesn’t serve its readers only in times of crisis, but every day by telling the stories of the faithful and how they are shaping our world, whether they live in the Vatican or Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

In exploring the legacy of Catholic schools in our diocese, or sharing the story of a man’s journey to priestly ordination, or the impact of efforts to help the poor throughout Middle Tennessee, the award-winning staff of the Tennessee Register is committed to chronicling the life of the Diocese of Nashville as well as giving our readers a glimpse of life in the universal Church.

This is the time of year when the Tennessee Register asks its readers to help us serve you by renewing your subscription.

The subscription rate this year remains unchanged at $26 for 26 issues.

For that small amount, the Tennessee Register will be delivered to the homes of Middle Tennessee Catholics bringing information about the Church from the Vatican to the smallest parish in the Diocese of Nashville and every step in between.

An envelope to renew your subscription will be included in the March 5 issue of the Register. Subscription renewal packets will be sent to all the parishes of the diocese during February. If you lose your renewal envelope, contact your parish or call Nancy Mattson at the Register office at (615) 783-0750 to get another.

You can pay through your parish by dropping your subscription renewal envelope in the collection basket at Mass. If you mail payment to the Register office, be sure to specify the parish where you are registered  so that your parish will get credit for your payment.

According to diocesan policy, a minimum of 70 percent of the households in each parish must receive the Tennessee Register. If less than 70 percent of the families pay for their own subscriptions, the parish must make up the difference.

So drop your subscription renewal in the mail or collection basket to help your parish and yourself.
